The Florida Keys – Summary

What an amazing way to start off 2022! We loved our time in The Keys – the KOA , Key West, Bahia Honda State Park, and Ft Zachary Historic Park.

Just wanted to share some random things that I didn’t put in any of the other posts. Winnie in her spot for the week at the KOA:

Here are some more pictures from the pool area. (I love all the reading we do on vaca!)

For you ladies – I highly recommend treating yourself to a Key Lime Colada!

And Shirley Temples for the kiddos:

Oh and by the way – the no see ums were INSANE at dawn and dusk especially the days where there wasn’t any wind. I highly recommend being INSIDE or in the pool / hot tub at dawn and dusk. Bring bug spray for the days where there isn’t wind!!! Weeks later we are still healing from some of the bites. Here’s AB enjoying as much fresh air as she could get while still staying behind a screen!

We loved all the outside time we got all week long. It was so nice to enjoy the stars in the warm night air. It was such great weather for us that week! It’s been unusually freeeezing since we got back so that week of hot sunshine is even more appreciated now.

We had a great first experience in “Winnie” and we hope many other families will get to adventure in her this year. We hope to start renting her out March 1st !

The girls loved sleeping in their little bed above the cab:

Making and eating dinner in there each night really felt very normal for us after our year on the road. That induction stove will stay in Winnie. It was one of the best purchases I’ve made. It boils water so quickly and if it wasn’t for the no see ums – I would be using it to cook outside every night! I love the pace of life on the road and the family time to do everything together:

We also got our first blackstone which will stay in Winnie and is so nice for outside grilling:

“Cleaning the house” takes a short few minutes 😁

And yet there is still room enough in Winnie to play family charades each night:

It was SUCH a great trip and included so many of our favorite things… warm sunshine, starry nights, swimming, snorkeling, beautiful creatures, gorgeous sunsets, tech free family time, good books, laughter, yummy food, history lessons, meeting interesting people.

We pray that Winnie will allow many other families to enjoy their own Rookie Roadsters adventures in 2022 and we look forward to another week in her at some point! 😁
